Torsion Springs

Northeast Spring designs and manufactures custom torsion springs for our customers in the Agricultural Industry, Overhead Door Manufacturers and Dealers, Power Lift Ramps and Gates and a variety of other industries and products. We can manufacture torsion springs with wire diameters ranging from .105” through .625”and offer all popular grades of steel wire. We offer a variety of end configurations, coatings, color codes and special tagging to assist our customers and meet their particular needs.

Torsion springs are defined as a spring that works by torsion or twisting. The amount of torque it exerts is proportional to the amount it is twisted. As load is applied the spring diameter will decrease and will increase the spring length.

Torsion spring designs are typically wound in the direction of the coil winding. Normally torsion springs are used in designs around a shaft or mandrel to ensure location and stability.
